What The Diet Entails?
The primary foods recommended in the Scarsdale diet plan to lose weight include fresh vegetables, fruits and lean meat. The dieter is recommended to follow a 3 meal per day cycle without taking any snacks in between. The diet allows you to consume as much vegetables and fruits as you want, without any restrictions. A lot of people find this diet quite strict and its ability to help you lose weight is often doubted. However, if you have a clean bill of health and your physician approves, this is one of the most effective diets out there to lose weight even today.
How It Works?
This 2 week diet plan works mainly on the principle to weight loss through low calorie intake. If you follow this diet plan, you will end up consuming about 1000 kcal per day. The diet involves consuming high amounts of protein by eating lean meat and fish along with vegetables and fruits that are low in calories for a period of 14 days. It is a hardcore plan that drastically diminishes the amount of carbohydrates you consume in a day.
After the completion of 2 weeks, the next step is a stabilization phase during which you can eat a bit more than the previous weeks. During this time, you can consume 3 eggs each week, 2 bread slices on a daily basis along with sugar free jam, nuts and a glass of wine. Dairy products, alcohol, fatty meat, fruit juices, desserts and starch still need to be avoided as long as you are following this diet. Along with this, you also need to drink a minimum of 4 glasses of water daily to flush out toxins and ultimately lose weight.
