Thunderbolt Yoga Pose

The thunderbolt pose, known as Vajrasana in Sanskrit, is a simple exercise for easing digestion. To do this yoga exercise, sit on your heels with your hands on your knees. Your buttocks should rest on the heels. Close your eyes and stay in this position for at least five minutes. This yoga pose helps in stretching the abdominal muscles and reduces bloating and eases digestion. You can do this yoga exercise immediately after a heavy meal to reduce abdominal discomfort.

Deep Breathing Exercise

Deep breathing or abdominal breathing exercise, by strengthening the sphincter muscles, prevents gastroesophageal acid reflux that causes heartburn. The child’s pose, known as Balasana in Sanskrit, by stretching the abdominal muscles improves movement of food through the stomach and intestines. Moreover, it reduces abdominal cramps and prevents gas buildup. To do this exercise, sit on your heels with the toes touching the floor. Now slowly lean forward until the forehead touches the floor. Stay in this position at least for 10 to 20 seconds.
