1. Listerine And Vinegar
Vinegar helps to exfoliate the dead skin while Listerine is an antiseptic mouthwash which is effective in eliminating infection causing microbes from the feet and also relive cracked skin.
Combine Listerine, vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:1:2 and soak the feet in this mixture for about 10 minutes. Use a foot scraper to remove the dead skin from the feet and then rinse the feet with fresh water. Using gold or amber Listerine is preferred to blue Listerine as the latter leaves blue stains on the feet for a while.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
The antibacterial and exfoliating properties of apple cider vinegar make it an ideal ingredient in any foot bath to help disinfect and detoxify the feet naturally.
Pour 1 cup of apple cider vinegar in a bucket of hot water and soak the feet in it for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse with fresh water. Bathing the feet thrice with this solution every week help to softer and healthier feet and cleaner toe nails.
3. Epsom Salt
Epsom salt is a natural exfoliator that helps to cleanse the feet of dirt and microbes. Taking a foot bath with a mixture of 1 cup Epsom salt and 1 bucket of water for 20 minutes, thrice a week helps to create clean and dead cell free feet.
4. Honey, Lemon And Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar cleans and disinfects the feet, lemon makes them fragrant and soft while honey keeps them well moisturised.
In a basin filled with warm water, add 1/2 cup honey and 1 – 2 tsp apple cider vinegar and stir well. Then slice 1 lemon into thin rounds and top the water in the basin with it. Soak the feet in the basin for 20 minutes and then wipe the feet properly with a towel. Apply little castor oil on the feet to moisturise them.
Gingerol in ginger are active antioxidants that render anti bacterial property to this herb thereby making ginger a great cleansing and disinfecting agent for a warm and soothing foot bath.
Chop 2 small ginger roots and place in a large bowl. Add 4 cups boiling water over the ginger and let the mixture settle for 15 minutes. Then add this mixture to the regular foot bath and detoxify the feet naturally. In case of unavailability of freshly chopped ginger, ginger powder can also be added as an alternative, although the former is more preferable and effective in this foot bath.
6. Oatmeal And Essential Oil
Oat meal is an excellent natural exfoliator that helps to cleanse the feet of dirt, microbes and dead skin cells while the essential oils not only soothe the feet and make it smell good but also eliminate skin infections.
In a basin filled with warm water, add 1 cup ground oatmeal and stir. The add a few drops of essential oils like chamomile, rose or lavender essential oil in the water and soak the feet in the basin for about 30 minutes. Then remove and rinse with fresh water and apply jojoba or coconut oil on the feet to moisturise it properly.
